In 2014, The McLean Partnership was retained by the executive of the UK’s largest proposed rail infrastructure programme to exclusively manage key searches within the leadership team. Within the construction directorate McLean managed the searches for the Programme Directors covering the North, Central and South regions and Railways Systems. Within the Programmes & Strategy Directorate, McLean was awarded 4 searches for the Strategy Director, PMO Director, Risk & Assurance Director and Project Controls Director.
For each search, McLean deployed a diversity driven strategic mapping exercise to identify and target suitable candidates from varying sectors within Construction & Infrastructure. We rigorously mapped the rail industry but we also sourced candidates with transferable skills from the Highways and Utilities sectors as well as large capital programmes within Aerospace & Defence, Oil & Gas and Nuclear sectors.
McLean managed a tailored process, interviewing candidates and delivering shortlists for each position within 25 days. We supported the client throughout the interview process and provided supporting documentation and feedback though to negotiation and placement with data captured to review performance and support future search strategies.
McLean successfully completed the searches on time and to budget and we were retained on further executive and board level roles as a result. Overall we placed 19 of the top 35 executives over an 18 month period.
