The Board

The McLean Partnership was founded by Ian Stopps and Nick Gebbie. We show respect to our clients and candidates in equal measure and have grown our business based on the understanding and desire to deliver a more intelligent form of search. Ian Stopps, CBE
Chairman

Ian is a founder and Chairman of The McLean Partnership and was Chief Executive of Lockheed Martin UK from 1999 until retirement in 2009. Ian is Chairman of Arundel Aerospace & Defence Systems (AADS), a provider of mission critical components in aerospace; defence; medical; automotive; transportation; and oil and gas; and of its fully owned subsidiary, Kembrey Wiring Systems. Additionally, Ian is Chairman of the Advisory Board for the School of Business and Economics at Loughborough University. He is a former Chairman of British American Business Inc. and remains on its Advisory Board. Ian has served on the boards of The British American Business Council, The Royal United Services Institute, The Council of the Society of British Aerospace Companies, and the UK Council for Electronic Business.

Ian was appointed a CBE for services to the UK Aerospace and Defence industry in 2003.
Nick Gebbie
Managing Director

Nick is a founder of The McLean Partnership and has over twelve years' experience of senior front office equities recruitment. He was previously responsible for the creation of JR Selection (a division within The Blomfield Group) where he focused on senior level recruitment within equities and corporate finance. Prior to this, Nick was a member of their sales and trading division.
Lexa Hunt
Senior Partner

Lexa is the former Chief Operating Officer of Oriel Securities which she joined in 2008. Previously she was Group COO at Fox-Pitt Kelton for five years, after spending twelve years as their Director of Research. Whilst there she was a member of the team that transitioned FPK back into a Partnership from their previous ownership by Swiss Re, alongside the private equity group J C Flowers & Co. This included building and managing a global infrastructure platform and support team.
David Knox
Non-Executive Director

David was until recently a Managing Director of JP Morgan Cazenove where he was Head of Research and a member of the executive committee. He joined the firm in 1994 having previously worked in the London marketing actuarial team at the leading global reinsurance company, Munich Re.
Alun Griffiths
Non-Executive Director

Alun Griffiths joined Atkins in 1986. He was appointed Group HR Director in 2003 and a main board director in 2007. His career in Atkins has been split roughly 50:50 between HR and business management roles. He has a background in management consultancy and has led a wide range of projects in the UK and internationally. He is an economics graduate and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. He currently chairs the Industry Board of the UK Resource Centre for Women in Science Engineering and Technology (UKRC), UK’s lead organisation for gender equality in science, engineering and technology.

The McLean Partnership's advisory board gives Partners direct access to specialists in our chosen sectors of expertise. Whilst remaining neutral and unconnected with day-to-day search work, they enable our team to understand the impact of current events on these sectors in a way that sets us apart from our competitors and adds a depth of knowledge to our work.

Tim Hancock
Lead Advisor
Tim spent over thirty years at Rothschild, mainly as a Managing Director in investment banking, and latterly as Group Risk Director of the global Rothschild group. He has in-depth knowledge and experience of all aspects of the financial services sector. Tim retired from Rothschild in 2010 and is a non-executive director of a private company and a trustee of a medical charity.

John Brookes
John left the Royal Navy as a Career Officer in 1966, went into the City where he held managerial appointments in international export banking, the money market, insurance broking and stockbroking. His final appointment before retirement was as a founding partner in Stork & May, specialising in helping senior executives with executive and non-executive appointments.

Hector Forsythe
Hector joined Oriel Securities in September 2008 to head up the support services team. He brings nearly twenty years' investment banking experience to the advisory board.

Jason Kenney
Jason is Head of Pan-European Oil & Gas Equity Research at Santander Global Banking and Markets. Prior to this he spent 10 years at ING Wholesale Banking as Head of Oil and Gas Research. Jason also spent seven years with global energy consulting group Wood Mackenzie. Jason is an ex-President of the Scottish Oil Club.

Darren Winder
Darren is currently Oriel's Head of Strategy. Prior to this he worked for JP Morgan Cazenove as Head of UK Macro Strategy, and prior to that he worked for UBS as Head of UK Equity Strategy, having originally joined as their Head of UK Economics.
