McLean was selected by a global Private Equity firm to run a search and selection process for a Non-Executive board member for a portfolio company within the Autos space. The brief was to find a high calibre individual from the international Autos market who could bring market leading advice and guidance to the board and Senior Management team as the company embarked on the next growth stage.
The team carried out a global search speaking to board executives and CEOs from the autos and logistics sector. We emphasised in our research the need for candidates to have worked across multiple countries, were comfortable attending overseas board meetings and had the ability to work for a demanding global Private Equity partner. 2 candidates were taken to the final stage for meetings with the Private Equity partners. They were both ex CEOs from leading UK Auto businesses who had operated internationally.
The successful candidate was a senior executive from a leading Autos conglomerate with board level exposure and crucially had previous PE exposure. A package was swiftly agreed on and he was attending his first board meeting 2 weeks later.
